My name is Blake Manning, and I’m a fishing guide specializing in Winter Steelhead on the Russian and Eel Rivers.
Fishing has been a lifelong passion for me. One that started at a very young age alongside my father, a well known figure in the Russian River Steelhead community. I grew up chasing Steelhead and Salmon all along the West Coast. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from fall trips to Southern Oregon, fishing the Chetco, Sixes, and Elk Rivers for fall-run Salmon. Or in Alaska, the Last Frontier.
In the winter, you could always find me on the banks of the Russian River with my dad. By the age of 16, I was rowing a drift boat, learning how to read and navigate water. Those early days behind the oars, rowing my father and friends down the river, laid the foundation for everything I do today.
After years of encouragement from fellow anglers and mentors, I eventually turned my passion into a profession. I’m incredibly grateful to the guides who shared their time, wisdom, and experience with me over the years prior to me getting started in the industry.
I use old school tactics and methods blended with new age techniques when targeting Salmon and Steelhead. I provide my clients with top of the line rods, reels, and tackle in the industry.
Outside of guiding, I work in behavioral health, supporting individuals through personal challenges. But when winter rolls around, my heart and focus return fully to the river.
My goal is simple: to provide every client with a safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable day on the water. With a real shot at landing the fish of a lifetime. There is a reason why Steelhead attract people year after year to the emerald green water. If you haven’t caught one, I suggest you find out for yourself.
